Our favorite Easter Holiday main course is always ham! This simple, easy to prepare, deliciously glazed Sheet Pan Ham Steak For Two is the perfect main course when the nest is empty!
We L.O.V.E. ham at this nest! It’s one of our very favorite main dishes. I even make it for Thanksgiving! (Yep we let a pig upstage a Turkey!)
Baked Ham makes an appearance at least once a week at this house in one way or another. From Ham sandwiches to Breakfast burritos. You can never have too much ham! (Just ask a pig!)
A couple of times a year rather than purchasing an entire ham, I grab a nice thick Ham Steak and cook it up for Mr. Nest and myself! Fried Ham Steaks are scrumptious! They’re fantastic for breakfast or dinner! Nice and tender and juicy…you just have to be careful not to overcook them.
How To Make Easy Sheet Pan Ham Steak
Preheat oven to 350°. Place a non-stick baking sheet, or a foil lined baking sheet, in a preheated oven for 30 minutes, allowing it to get nice and hot! (You’re gonna sear that baby on the cooking sheet and let the juices start flowing…)
Never one to want to have to wash more dishes than necessary… I used the same baking sheet that I was baking my Loaded Scalloped Potatoes for Two on.
Remove the ham steak from plastic covering and place on a paper towel to drain for 10 minutes. Carefully pick ham steak up and place on preheated baking sheet.
Cook ham for 10 minutes. Remember this is a fully cooked Ham Steak…we are just warming it up!
Carefully turn the ham steak over.
Top with 1/2 cup of your favorite glaze. You can make your glaze if you want to go to the effort. I suggest my “spiced peach glaze” from my Slow Cooker Peach Glazed Ham, or you can use a wonderful bottled glaze, like I did in this recipe.
I purchased a Mango Coconut glazing sauce from the Spice Exchange at T. J. Maxx. You can find the best specialty items in their food section.
We love the flavor with its subtle hint of heat. It does have peppers listed as one of the ingredients. (I won’t mention that they’re the tiny orange kind that begin with an “H”…for “HOLY HECK MY MOUTHS ON FIRE!)
In full disclosure, when I use it again I’ll run it through a strainer. We found the bits of coconut a tad tough…but the overall flavor was superb!
Spread the glaze you choose, over the top of the ham steak.
Turn the broiler to high and broil for the last 5 minutes of cook time. This will allow the edges to crisp just a little. Make sure to keep a close eye on the ham so that it does not burn!
TIP: This is why I recommend lining the pan with foil! The sweet sugars from the glaze combined with the juices from the ham are going to burn rapidly on the baking sheet under the broiler. No one wants to be scrubbing a baking sheet from now until the cows come home…especially on Easter Sunday!
If you are cooking this Ham Steak with the potatoes be sure to remove the potatoes during the broiling portion of cooking the ham!
By the way… Grilled Ham Steaks with a glaze…HELLO!!! That would be awesome! Just swap out the baking sheet for the grill grate! (Unless you’re still having “springter”… the never-ending 5th season here in Utah…then you can skip the grill and go for the baking sheet.)
I plated this beautiful glazed ham steak with a side of my Asparagus with toasted walnuts and feta cheese
The touch of green with those beautiful toasted walnuts and cheese is the perfect sidekick to go along with this meal…but don’t forget the “Cheesy Potatoes”!
I’ve been making cheesy potatoes for as long as I can remember to go along with our Easter dinners! The entire family loves my Best Cheesy Funeral Potatoes, especially for those big family holidays. (Thankfully ya don’t have to “Kick the bucket” to make funeral potatoes… Whew!)
Nothing better than this quick easy Sheet Pan Ham Steak for a simple Easter dinner for two or three. We had more than enough for another guest…so reach out and invite a friend who may be alone for the day!
It’s tender, juicy, and a fantastic main course for the ham lovers at your Nest! Like I said…you can never have too much ham if you were to ask the birds that reside here.
I hope however you choose to celebrate this Holiday, it’s with those you love! Because while food is always a huge part of every holiday…it’s really all about family and good friends! The true gifts we have been given in life!
A lot of lonely Kings have sat down to feast alone…while a carpenter sat down with his 12 best friends…and food had little to do with the love at that table!
Happy Easter My Friends!
