Easy Blackstone Salmon Recipe

Making Salmon on the flat top grill comes out so flavorful and tender! It’s my new favorite way to make teriyaki salmon. It cooks so quick and doesn’t dry out!
I made this salmon recipe on my portable Blackstone Griddle which I took out of my RV. It’s the perfect size if you’re cooking for 1-2 people.
Cooking fish on the Blackstone Griddle can seem intimidating, but it’s not! In this post I give you step by step directions for making perfect griddled salmon every time!

I even lived full time in my RV for 3 months, and with the limited cabinet space I started making healthy recipes with few ingredients like this Blackstone salmon.

Ingredients
- Avocado oil: I use avocado oil or an animal fat to coat the Blackstone so that the salmon does not stick to the grill. Avocado oil and animal fats such as tallow, lard and duck fat are good for cooking at high temperatures. If you don’t have any of the above you can use, butter, ghee or olive oil.
- Wild caught fresh salmon fillets with skin: high in omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamins A, C, D, E, niacin and vitamin B12. You can use salmon with skin or without skin
- Teriyaki sauce: in this recipe I used my homemade honey paleo teriyaki sauce (coconut aminos instead of soy sauce, no brown sugar, and tapioca flour instead of corn starch), but any teriyaki sauce will work.
Tips & Tricks
- Make sure to oil the Blackstone Griddle so that the piece of fish doesn’t stick to the grill. Especially so if you’re using salmon without the skin on it.
- Be sure to not over cook the salmon! Use a meat thermometer or infrared thermometer and make sure to remove the salmon from the griddle when the internal temperature reaches 145F. There’s nothing worse than dry over-cooked fish!
Tools to make Salmon on a Griddle
- I have the 22 inch portable tabletop flat griddle grill station. It’s perfect for the RV travel life! I also have friends that have the Blackstone Adventure Ready 2-Burner 28″ Outdoor Griddle
- If you don’t have a griddle you can also make this salmon on the stove top. I recommend using a cast iron skillet.
How to cook salmon on Blackstone Griddle
Cooking salmon on a Blackstone is incredibly easy. Salmon on the griddle makes deliciously crispy salmon skin. Enjoy this easy nutritious fish on the Blackstone recipe.
- First cut your salmon into 5-6 ounce filets
- Next check your salmon filets for pin bones. If you find any, remove them. If they’re super hard try using tweezers or even pliers (make sure they’re ones you only use in the kitchen)
- Next preheat your blackstone griddle to 375-400F.
- Add the oil to the flat top grill once hot.
- Then add the salmon filets skin side down and cook for 3 minutes.
- Next flip and cook flesh side down for 2 minutes.
- Flip back to skin side down and pour teriyaki sauce over the salmon. Let cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and the salmon comes to an internal temperature of 145F.
- Remove from griddle and serve.
Stove top directions
If you don’t have a griddle you can easily make this paleo salmon recipe on a cast iron skillet. First heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot add the avocado oil.
Next place the salmon skin side down on the cast iron skillet and cook for 4 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Flip over once again (skin side down) and add teriyaki sauce.
Let sauce thicken for 1-2 minutes. Remove the salmon once the internal temperature reaches 145F.

How to store salmon
Store leftover salmon in a glass airtight container for up to 2 days. Have this delicious meal for lunch the next day!
How to reheat
Reheat the salmon in the microwave. Remove the lid of the storage container or transfer to a plate and cook for 1.5-2 minutes.
