When it comes to quick and easy meal solutions, frozen tortellini is a pantry staple that should not be overlooked. Whether you want a simple weeknight dinner or an impressive one to serve to guests, frozen tortellini recipes can be used in a ton of cheap slow cooker meals.
One of the main advantages of using tortellini from frozen is its convenience. Unlike fresh, which has a shorter shelf life, frozen can be stored for extended periods without worrying about spoilage. This makes it a great option for those times when you want to make Goulash in the Crock-pot in a pinch or want to keep a backup option. Additionally, it cooks quickly, saving you valuable time in the kitchen.

You can find these in various flavors and fillings, such as cheese, spinach, meat, or combinations of these ingredients. This allows you to choose a flavor that pairs well with the overall theme of your dish. The filling options provide the ability to experiment with different taste combinations too.
Of course you can make a creamy protein in your cooker like our slow cooker chicken alfredo and boil these on the side, then combine together. It is in fact possible to cook everything all at once though.
How to cook tortellini in Crockpot is a breeze. Normally you would bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add contents of your bag(s), and cook according to the package instructions. Once they float to the surface, they are tender and cooked. Negative to this is that water doesn’t add any flavor but cooked in a sauce does!

Slow Cooker Tortellini
You will need a 6 quart Crock pot to make this. Feel free to double it but you would need a much larger pot to do so. Serve right out of the pot unless you want to transfer into a baking dish for the table.
- Bag of frozen cheese tortellini, 19 oz bag
- Ground beef or precooked shredded chicken
- Bag of spinach fresh, 10 oz
- Can diced tomatoes 28 oz
- 4 c chicken broth or vegetable broth
- 1 block cream cheese 8 oz, room temp, cut into cubes
If you are going to add ground beef in Crockpot you will want to brown it first. You can cook it first inside but alone, and it takes many hours first. Better to do that on the stovetop first and then add other ingredients.
- On the stovetop, brown your ground sausage or ground beef.
- Pour in your can of tomatoes, broth, and cubes of cream cheese.
- Cook on low for 5 hours, stirring 1-2 times.
- Add the frozen pasta shells and fresh spinach leaves.
- Cover and cook an additional 15-30 minutes until tender to your liking.

If you have kids you might want something close to a goulash, something messy, that they will gobble up. Try something they already love but substituting these cheese filled noodles so you don’t have to boil them at all. Something like tortellini lasagna will be a huge hit at the end of the day, for sure. Like deconstructed, like delish.
